Opportunity can be found almost anywhere – even when it comes to social distancing and a swimming pool. When social distancing was thrust upon us, artist David King found inspiration. He created a series of “Social Distance” oil paintings depicting people in a kiddie pool.
“I saw the kiddie pool as a metaphor for the situation we’re all facing,” he states in an article published by Scene. “Because of the quarantine, it felt like we were all trapped in our own little kiddie pool.”
The artist currently has 43 oil paintings in this series, along with many other paintings in other themes. He is represented by HEDGE Gallery in Cleveland, Ohio, and you can view these 43 paintings on their website with his other paintings. He’s received many accolades for his work and participated in a host of different juried shows. His work is rich in color and emotion, which you may welcome as winter’s very neutral landscape continues on for a few more weeks.
While most everyone’s pools are closed for the season, these oil paintings may bring you some insight. Spring is only week’s away!
