How does FROG Serene compare to other bromine floaters or using chlorine?

How long do the mineral and bromine cartridges last?

Yes. Simply turn it upside down on any surface so the water fills the green holder and doesn’t make a mess. Just remember to replace it when you exit the tub.

Purchasing a hot tub was our covid project. Using a hot tub is different than owing a hot tub and having to learn how to care for the water. The hot tub dealer provide a bag full of starter chemicals, with the sanitizer being chlorine. They are good at the hot tub hardware and service, but we found out not so good with chemical/water treatment side of the equation. The water was sometimes cloudy and foamy. They told us to add more chemicals to remedy the issues. (In the end the extra chemicals made things worse.) After developing skin irritations that looked like red itchy spots and poison ivy looking patches, it was time to dig in to the root cause and find a solution. A few months later, after speaking directly with the folks at Frog, (and two dermatologists), it seemed the skin irritations may be from the cyanuric acid stabilizer in the chlorine crystals. We changed to Frog Serene System, with Bromine and Mineral Cartridge. Frog also recommended a more compatible stabilizer (sodium peroxydisulfate). Leslie's Pool has been monitoring our water quality and provided guidance for the amount of shock to use/frequency (a tsp per person and two ounces once/month) for our 400 gallon hot tub. Wow, what a difference using Serene! The skin irritations have decreased 99%! The best part is we use much less chemicals (small amounts of pH minus or dry acid/alkalinity up/and the new shock), the water is crystal clear, more stable chemistry readings. Serene is easy to use! Hope this info may help others.

Big fan of the Serene system. 400-gallon Bullfrog tub has gone more than a month with the bromine set on 3. Easy combo with some bulk non-chlorine shock and tub crystal clear.

Love the ease of use of this product. Get the water balanced initially and mostly set it and forget it. Keeps the water smooth, clear and not harsh smelling. I only additionally need to shock it with some non-chlorine shock after use and good to go.
