FROG® @ease® Floating System
Quick and easy Hot Tub Sanitizer with minerals and up to 75% Less Chlorine
How many times have you thought, “this hot tub is just too much work!” We set out to change that with FROG @ease – it gives you that “ahhh” feeling of relaxation and peace of mind. FROG @ease combines our sanitizing minerals with SmartChlor® Technology to kill bacteria 2 ways. The result is Fresh Mineral Water®∞ that’s silky soft with far less odors and the easiest water to maintain because it’s self-regulating. It knows when more sanitizing power is needed and automatically delivers it. When you need to do something, it flips over.
Additional Information
In 2 seconds, you can know precisely whether your pH, Total Alkalinity and Hardness are balanced, plus whether or not SmartChlor® needs replacing. Simply dip the FROG @ease Test Strip into the water, remove with the pads facing up and shake once to remove the water on the FROG Test Strips. Then hold it up next to the color chart on the back of the bottle to compare colors.
If the SmartChlor color on the strip is darker than the bottle label, the water is fine. If it is lighter it’s time to replace the Smartchlor Cartridge.

I love it.

Ok system, uses more chlorine then it should to keep it an acceptable level. Also its a rip off you cant buy just the mineral cartridges, you have to buy the whole kit

Lucky if it last 2 weeks which makes it too expensive to use.
Wayni Tao –
Nancey, Sorry to hear about your longevity issues. It most likely is due to a water balancing issue. Take a look at our free water balancing guide here.
• If you are constantly adjusting the dial setting on the Smartchlor cartridge up and down it will run through the chlorine faster, instead let the self-regulating system and spa do its job.
• Running the filtration cycle too often can also affect this, make sure you have the settings on what your @ease Floating System manual recommends.
Hope this helps! There are lots of variables and different possible situations to run through. If you are still having issues please give our customer service team a call at 800-222-0169.

We have a blue-green waxy film where the water meets the inside edge of our hot tub. It is very difficult to remove. It is about 1/4 inch high! Are we doing something wrong to cause this? And how do we stop it from happening?
When the hot tub is drained we have been able to make progress on cleaning the waxy film ring away with alcohol and lots of elbow grease. But what a pain!
Wayni Tao –
Hello Mark,
The green-blue film that appears in your spa could happen when the sanitizer level is low, the pH could be high, and the filter might be dirty. To fix this I recommend maintaining circulation in your spa, make sure the pH is between 7.2-7.8, add water balancers if not.
You can also clean your filter cartridges and shock the water with chlorine or non-chlorine shock to increase the sanitizer level. We also recommend using a spa purge prior to the next time you drain and refill the hot tub. Sometimes contaminants can build up in the spas plumbing no matter what sanitizing system is being used.
Please let us know if you have any further questions!

Bought this system to make keeping chemistry simple I have kept the setting on 1 for chlorine and twice within 2 months the chlorine levels have went astronomical. To point my only option is to drain. The latest time was only a week after a replacing water in my 250 gallon hot tub very frustrating

We have replaced the mineral cartridge 3 times and can not get it to work. Will have to drain for the 3rd time in 6 months. Just can not get it to work.

Hi Rebecca,
I am sorry to hear about your frustration with the @ease Floating System.
The minerals are a combination of silver and limestone, the silver helps to destroys bacteria and the limestone absorbs acids from chemicals like chlorine to help maintain a neutral pH. When combined with SmartChlor, it’s a perfect combination that kills bacteria two ways so you have a cleaner and clearer hot tub. The mineral cartridges for our spa products does not dissolve away completely and we recommend replacing it every 4 months.
When deciding if the Smartchlor is actually out, it is best to use the test strips as the best determinant, not when the ball “flips” over. The @ease test strips use a color system, so you can put your test strip up to the color chart on the bottle and compare. The @ease test strips test the pH, total alkalinity, and calcium hardness, and will show the chlorine level when the SmartChlor cartridge needs replacing. If the SmartChlor color on the strip is darker than the bottle label, the water is fine. If it is lighter it’s time to replace the SmartChlor cartridge.
One thing that can cause a low reading is if a chlorine shock wasn’t used on the freshly filled spa. Using a chlorine shock on a freshly filled tub establishes a free chlorine reading between .5-1 ppm for the @ease system. Without shocking with a chlorine shock right away, the SmartChlor has no reserve to pull from when it needs to.
We recommend shocking with a chlorine shock once a month or whenever you replace your SmartChlor cartridge. However, it really depends on how often and how many people are using the spa, shocking weekly with a non-chlorine (FROG Maintain) shock is recommend if you’re using your spa more than 3 times a week. Not shocking weekly with a non-chlorine shock allows for contaminants to consume the chlorine at a faster rate.
One thing to look for is if the @ease system is flowing toward any jets or filters. If it does this it can drain the SmartChlor from the @ease, thus lessening how long the SmartChlor cartridge lasts and lowering the chlorine level.
I hope this helps!

The Frog system has not proved to last more than 10 days, that makes it very expensive. We liked the idea of not having to add anything every time we use the hot tub, but we can’t afford to replace the frog every 10 days.

Overall easy to use – although it tends to want to lay completely on it’s side (vs slightly) so wonder if it’s impacting how it works. Also seems to drop quite a few granules in the tub every time you remove it to use the tub . When you shake the chlorine part you hear granules – so it’s not out – but doesn’t seem to want to stay upright with slight tilt – per instructions. It’s possible this is all OK but customer service didn’t seem to have clear answers.

I read all the reviews and decided to give this Frog Ease system a try. I wanted to wait for a few refills before I gave it a review because I wanted to see how consistent it would be. I’ve used it for a solid year now and I got to say one thing about it. It certainly is the best way I’ve come to know to maintain my Hot Tub water that it is sparkling clear from refill to refill every time. I’ve had my Hot Tub for 6 years now and the maintaining of the PH and the Chlorine levels was a HUGE challenge for me with my well water. The maintenance involved was always adding chlorine after every use because I use my hot tub everyday. Then there is the oxidizing so the chlorine will be free’d up to actually work like it is supposed to do. I was always adding this or adding that to keep my water clear, and even then close to my refill time the water would become hazy, NOT SO with the Frog Ease system. Just as long as I keep my Alkalinity and the hardness and the PH in line, like the system asks you too, All I have to do is check all this once a week–usually Sunday— and adjust the levels accordingly and the FROG takes care of the rest—once a week people!! Instead of everyday or so. I have found that my hardness level usually stays the same through the whole length between refills so I mainly have to fine tune the alkalinity every week and my PH stays in line. The FROG smart Chlor cartridge lasts right at 4 weeks so during the last week of its life cycle I open the ports to the 4 setting because the cartridge starts to run low after 3 weeks. I also ALWAYS put in a couple tablespoons of oxidizer once a week just because I am a fan of using Oxidizer in my Hot Tub and my levels are always solid. The FROG suggests only once a moth for Oxidizer but I do it every week just because. This has been the easiest and best way to maintain my Hot Tub of 380 gallons that I have ever used and am grateful to not have to worry about all the levels all week and then once a week I get everything fine tuned then not have to worry about it until the next week. Do as the paperwork asks of you and you will have sparkling clear water the whole time between refills. It is a little more expensive then regular care but I will be the first to say that I pay for convenience and I do so gratefully.
