Whether you are 9 or 90, everyone should know the rules of the pool. Since May is National Pool Safety Month, here are a few things you can do to ensure your summer is safe and fun!
Post the pool rules which could include:
- NO running around the pool
- NO diving in the shallow end
- NO glass containers by the pool
- Always swim with a buddy
- Always put toys, rafts, etc away after use
- Always wear sun screen
Barricade the pool completely. A wall at least four feet tall is recommended with slats close together and no handholds or footholds for climbing.
Secure the gate with a lock. The best gates are self-closing and self-latching with latches well out of reach of children.
Set up alarms – one on the gate and one in the pool itself that alerts the home owner of yard or pool entry.
Secure doors and windows of the home to keep kids from accessing the back yard on their own.
Maintain water sanitization by checking the levels weekly and adjusting if needed. FROG can help with that. Visit frogproducts.com for the product that is right for your pool.
