How Much Chlorine do You Really Need?

The common guidelines you’ll read and hear about chlorine levels in your pool do not apply to FROG^®! You probably already knew that, however, we realize that reading or hearing these “common” guidelines can be confusing, right?

 

Here’s a quick comparison of chlorine levels in chlorine-only pools to Pool FROG^®:

A traditional chlorine system typically works by adding chlorine to the pool as needed; typically, on a weekly basis, chlorine must be added manually, whether using chlorine tablets, granular chlorine, or liquid chlorine.

Manually adding chlorine means either touching it or using gloves, dealing with the smell and making sure it’s safely stored away from children and pets – even while you’re manually adding it to the pool.

You eliminate manually adding chlorine with Pool FROG because the chlorine cartridge is prefilled. Adding chlorine means replacing the cartridge, that’s it.

But that’s not all – the Mineral Cartridge is what makes the difference.

If your pool chlorine levels read higher than 0.5, you’re wasting chlorine. If you’re having trouble:

• Check to ensure that your Mineral Cartridge is less than 6 months old and was put in brand new – not wetted first.
• Adjust the dial to find the right setting for your pool size and how often it’s used.
• Use FROG Test Strips to test your water:
  • Total Alkalinity: 80 – 120 ppm
  • pH: 7.2 – 7.8
  • Total Hardness: 200 – 400 ppm

If these levels are not within guidelines, it will make a difference in how much chlorine is used and how effective it is or it isn’t.
