  1. Open the cap of the In-Line System and set aside. Do not open the cap while jets are on.
  2. Remove the holder by turning it counterclockwise (about 1/8 turn) before pulling out.
  3. Snap in the cartridges: Mineral Cartridge into the area marked “Minerals” (top portion) and SmartChlor Cartridge into the area marked “Bromine or SmartChlor” (bottom portion). Line up the indentation at the top of each cartridge with the raised area on the holder.
  4. Reinsert the holder: line up the holder arrow with the system arrow, push down until the holder tabs pass the system tabs, then turn the holder clockwise until it stops. Confirm it’s locked by gently pulling up — it should stay in place.
  5. Replace the cap.

Replacing Cartridges

  • SmartChlor: Replace when empty. Test strips will show it’s spent. Its lifespan varies by hot tub size and bather load.
  • FROG Sanitizing Minerals: Replace every 4 months or whenever draining and refilling the hot tub.

Maintenance tip: Lubricate the In-Line holder O-ring twice a year with a silicone lubricant.

FROG @ease is an easy, low-maintenance hot tub sanitizing system that helps maintain clean, clear hot tub water with less effort. By combining FROG Sanitizing Minerals® with SmartChlor Technology, it creates Fresh Mineral Water∞ that’s Cleaner, Clearer, Softer and Easier® to care for.

Unlike standard dichlor hot tub sanitizers, which spike and drop, SmartChlor maintains a consistent low chlorine level of 0.5–1.0 ppm. This self-regulating sanitizer automatically releases chlorine only when needed, making it one of the easiest ways to sanitize a hot tub without constant monitoring. Ideal for anyone looking for a simple hot tub water care solution, FROG @ease reduces chlorine use while helping maintain balanced water and simplifying ongoing hot tub maintenance.

Hot tubs with 150 to 600 gallons are perfect for FROG @ease.

With standard chemicals, you experience peaks and valleys in your sanitizing routine. When you add chemical, the level spikes. When you use the tub, the level drops. This yo-yo method goes away with FROG @ease because it maintains the same level of sanitizing from day 1 until the day the SmartChlor Cartridge is empty.

SmartChlor is a unique, patented type of chlorine. It will consistently maintain a 0.5 to 1.0 ppm chlorine level as long as the pH is balanced. This would not be enough on its own; but with FROG Sanitizing Minerals®, it’s a perfect combination that kills bacteria with minerals and a low level of chlorine to create Fresh Mineral Water∞ that’s cleaner, clearer and softer.

The blue Mineral Cartridge lasts 4 months. The silver SmartChlor Cartridge typically lasts 3 – 4 weeks. When the SmartChlor Cartridge is depleted, the FROG @ease Test Strip will be a lighter purple color than the test strip bottle label. That is your cue that it’s time for replacement.

SmartChlor is slightly more expensive than dichlor but less than other systems. SmartChlor offers a nearly hands-off experience that automatically maintains consistent sanitizer levels, saving you time and guesswork while delivering clearer, more comfortable water with minimal effort. And with up to 75% less chlorine*, your suits won’t fade and your hot tub has less wear and tear.

Keeping your hot tub balanced will extend the life of your SmartChlor Cartridge. Keep pH under 7.6. Over circulation could also deplete the cartridge faster.

I've had the frog system for 5 years and it has worked great. I love it. I would add that you need to ensure you remove the plastic labels on the bottom of the cartridge. one of the labels came off my mineral cartridge and blocked the water exiting the housing. Water coming in with no way to exit will crack the housing. I do need to know what type of glue to use on the new housing.

Nothing but Happy! We've had our spa about a year now. Everything was going great. "Suddenly" I started "burning through" the Smartchlor cartridges. Now not happy, tried to troubleshoot on my own. (My 1 st mistake) Thought the cartridges were "light on chlorine". Grumbled many times to myself. Thought I was suddenly doing something wrong. I finally reach out to Dan. (2nd mistake of not just calling him 1 st!)He spent about an hour with me on the phone. Turns out all I needed was to do a " pipe purge". Easy fix. I'm sure my dealer told me about this particular maintenance thing, but being new to spa ownership, I forgot about this important step. Can't say enough good things about the effort Dan showed in helping me.

I absolutely prefer the FROG @ease Inline System. For me, it has taken the guesswork out of maintaining my hot tub. Before FROG, I had to constantly purchase multiple other products. This system is much easier to use, replaces almost everything I was using before, and has helped me to enjoy my hot tub again. I’ve actually started using my hot tub more frequently now.

My advice to those who report their FROG cartridges don’t last: try lowering the dial setting. Depending on the size of your hot tub, start at a low number (like 1) and give it a day. Adjust each day by +1 until you find a number that works best for your tub. Or try reaching out to the dealer you purchased your tub from. They should be able to provide you with some helpful tips.
