  1. Fill and balance: Drain, clean and refill your hot tub with fresh water. Balance Total Alkalinity (80–120 ppm), pH (7.2–7.6) and Total Hardness (150-250 ppm).
  2. Add treatment: Cut the single-dose FROG Jump Start packet and pour it directly into the spa with the jets running.
  3. Run jets: Leave the cover open and turn on the jets for 15 to 20 minutes to help circulate and dissolve the shock.
  4. Install cartridges: Insert your FROG Mineral and SmartChlor® or Bromine Cartridge after the initial residual is established.

Yes, as a dichlor product, FROG Jump Start can be used with all other hot tub chemicals except for biguanides.

1 FROG Jump Start Packet comes in all FROG @ease and FROG Serene System Kits. It is also sold seperately as a single packet – use one for every 600 gallons.

Can I use Jump Start for monthly maintenance?
I accidently ordered a bunch of those because i did not realize there is a maintenance powder.

FROG Products

Jumpstart is a chlorinated shock that should only be used during startup before placing the @ease system in the water. Adding Jumpstart is not recommended monthly as it would be also adding CYA to your hot tub, which can lead to issues down the road.

I used the jump atart packet and I can't get the total alkalinity down with the ph/alkalinity reducer. What do I do?

Hi there, Debra! Sometimes alkalinity is very resistant, we recommend you keep adding reducer. It is typical for Total Alkalinity to take multiple additions to get down to the desired range, especially if it's significantly high – typically above 180 ppm.

Be sure to retest your water after each addition of the reducer and wait a period of time before adding more.

my tub is only 220 gallon, and one packet says it's for 600 gallons. does that mean i use 1/3 of a packet for my 200 gallon tub each time i refiill/shock? you guys really need to print a chart/instructions on each packet [design fail!]. thanks

Hi there! FROG Jump Start is made for hot tubs up to 600 gallons. You should use the entire packet when shocking your hot tub!

As Kari Marzen – November 8, 2020 stated. I think the startup packet is way too much chlorine. This is supposed to be easy. I may use 1/3 of the packet next time as well. My spa is 400 gallons and it is way too high in chlorine levels. Been running for over 24 hours now and still to high. Unless I’m doing something wrong, be careful adding the whole packet. I may have to drain some water and fill with some fresh water.

To help dissipate those high chlorine levels quickly, you can keep the cover off your spa, run the jets, or drain some of the water and refill with fresh water, as you've mentioned. We have a 235 gal spa. Whenever I use jump start, my chlorine sky rockets and my once perfect ph goes down a lot. Every time. I believe from now on, I will be using 1/3 the packet. The full packet is just too much chlorine for a 235 gal spa.

I have been through 4 silver cartridges am now replacing mineral (blue) for the first time. I am not draining the water so do I need to use the jumpstart packet or that only used when completly draining the water.
