How to Close Your Pool for Winter with FROG Leap®

Three women sit on the edge of an in-ground pool with their feet in the water while a white dog lies beside them.

Getting Your Pool Ready for Closing

  1. Balance the water
Just like at start-up, it’s important to balance your water before closing. Keep Total Alkalinity at 80–120 ppm, pH between 7.2 and 7.8 abd Total Hardness between 200-400 ppm.
  2. Shock and treat the water
Use FROG Leap Pool Hibernation®. This easy, 3-step pool closing kit shocks the water and protects against algae all winter long.
  3. Lower the water level
Lower the water level to below the mouth of the skimmer to prevent freezing that could damage pipe or the skimmer.
  4. Prep your equipment
Drain all water from all equipment, including pumps, filters and your FROG Leap Infuzer® (using the knobs at the bottom).
  5. Remove the Torpedo Pac
If the chlorine cartridge still has product, wrap it in plastic and store it safely. Discard the Mineral Cartridge, as it only lasts one season.
