In addition to our patented mineral technology, maintaining a low, consistent chlorine level is key in creating Fresh Mineral Water®∞. That’s exactly what FROG @ease SmartChlor Technology is designed to do. Once properly set, the SmartChlor Cartridge self-regulates, automatically maintaining the ideal low chlorine level until the cartridge is depleted.
Step 1: Balance Your Water
Proper balance is required for SmartChlor to work effectively. If levels are off, adjust using FROG Balancing Basics™.
- Total Alkalinity: 80–120 ppm
- pH: 7.2–7.6
- Total Hardness: 150-250 ppm
Step 2: Check the Mineral Cartridge
Even if you hear minerals inside, they may be used up. Replace the blue Mineral Cartridge every 4 months.
Step 3: Set the Dial
Start by setting the SmartChlor Cartridge dial according to your hot tub or swim spa’s water volume. Refer to the setting chart below and select the recommended setting based on the number of gallons in your spa.
Step 4: Use FROG @ease Test Strips
Compare the top color pad on the test strip to the indicator on the bottle:
- Darker than the indicator: SmartChlor is working properly.
- Lighter than the indicator: The SmartChlor Cartridge is likely empty and should be replaced.
Is your SmartChlor testing high or low?
Increase or decrease the dial setting by one number. Once you find the ideal setting for your hot tub or swim spa, there’s typically no need to adjust it again.
Entertaining? Shock Before and After
Planning a gathering or expecting heavier-than-normal use? Use a non-chlorine shock before and after the event to help maintain water quality and support the system during periods of increased demand. The rest of the time, FROG @ease does the work for you.
