¿Agua turbia en tu jacuzzi o piscina de natación? El ácido cianúrico (CYA) podría ser el problema.

What is CYA?

Cyanuric Acid (CYA) is an ingredient found in many chlorine products that helps protect the chlorine from being burned off by the sun. Think of it as sunscreen for your chlorine.

Why is CYA a problem?

Over time, CYA builds up and actually reduces chlorine’s effectiveness. As sanitizer performance drops, water can become cloudy, develop odors and require more chemicals, time and money to maintain.

How do I know if my CYA is too high?

A simple water test can tell you. Visit your local spa retailer and request a free CYA test strip.

  • Below 50 ppm: Normal range
  • Over 50 ppm: Water becomes harder to manage
  • Over 100 ppm: A drain and refill is necessary

How can I avoid CYA build-up?

Since most hot tubs and swim spas aren’t exposed to long periods of direct sunlight, CYA provides little benefit in spa water.

Choose a water care system that contains 0% CYA, like RANA® @facilidad®. Its patented Cloro inteligente® Technology self-regulates sanitizer levels to provide protection when you need it, without the CYA build-up that can make water difficult to maintain.
