Additional Information

The @ease System combines the proven FROG mineral formula for killing bacteria with SmartChlor Technology that maintains a consistently low chlorine level for weeks.

Unlike normal chlorine that is used up when you get in, SmartChlor continues to maintain the same level which is up to 75% less than hot tubs using Dichlor (standard hot tub chlorine). That’s why we call it self-regulating.  It goes to work when the hot tub needs sanitizing so there are no frustrating yo-yo chlorine levels.  This time-released method is also why less shock is needed to maintain the hot tub. When the SmartChlor Cartridge is depleted the system will flip over as a visual reminder to replace the empty cartridge with a new one.

This technology is so unique it has its own testing method that’s easier than standard test strips.

In 2 seconds, you can know precisely whether your pH, Total Alkalinity and Calcium Hardness are balanced, plus whether SmartChlor® needs replacing. Simply dip the FROG @ease Test Strip into the water, remove with the pads facing up and shake once to remove the water on the FROG Test Strips. Then put it up to the color chart on the bottle and compare.

If the SmartChlor color on the strip is darker than the bottle label, the water is fine. If it is lighter it’s time to replace the Smartchlor Cartridge.

What size hot tub will FROG @ease work in?

Hot tubs 150 to 600 are perfect for FROG @ease.

How does FROG @ease compare to bromine floaters or using chlorine?

With standard chemicals you experience peaks and valleys in your sanitizing routine.  When you add chemical, the level spikes, when you use the tub, the level drops. This yo-yo method goes away with FROG @ease because it maintains the same level of sanitizing all the time.  Plus it’s conveniently tucked away with easy access whenever you need to change a cartridge.

How can it work so well with 75% less chlorine?

SmartChlor is not a typical chlorine.  It will consistently maintain a 0.5 to 1.0 ppm free chlorine level. This would not be enough on its own; but with FROG minerals, it’s a perfect combination that kills bacteria 2 ways so you have a cleaner, clearer hot tub that’s wonderfully soft and odor free!

How long do the Mineral and SmartChlor cartridges last?

The mineral cartridge lasts four months or whenever the hot tub is drained and refilled. The SmartChlor Cartridge lasts 3-4 weeks depending on the size of your tub and how often it is used.

Is a FROG @ease System expensive?

SmartChlor is slightly more expensive than dichlor but less than other systems. Consumers who have tried it tell us it is SO worth the money because it makes owning a hot tub extremely easy with far less monitoring and no shocking for an entire month. You save time and the cost of shock treatments plus with up to 75% less chlorine, your suits won’t fade and your hot tub itself has less wear and tear.

Which hot tubs have the FROG @ease In-Line System built-in?

Marquis Spas, Caldera Spas, Artesian Spas and Hot Springs Spas all have the in-line system installed on select hot tub models at their factory.

Very convenient and easy to use. I have a soft water system in place and I can’t seem to get the total hardness (ppm) reading in the “ideal” range. I love the soft feel of the water and the use of less chlorine is crucial to me.

Mine does not wok as long as it is suppose to work. Neither cartridge last the expected life.

Thank you for your feedback, and I’m sorry to hear about your frustration!

First I want to mention that our mineral does not dissolve, it will always last 4 months as long as it never dried out once it got wet.

There are a few causes of short SmartChlor cartridge life, thankfully they all have solutions! One reason being the placement of the cartridges, we recommend placing the SmartChlor cartridge on the bottom and the mineral on top. When they are placed the other way around the SmartChlor dissolves at a rapid rate.

It is also important to check your cartridge setting, we recommend the mineral is always turned to 6 and the setting on the SmarChlor varies by hot tub gallon size. If your cartridge is set too high this will dissolve it quicker than necessary.

Lastly, if all of these things are correct it is likely you are experiencing biofilm in your pipes. A pipe purging product is an effective way to clean your pipes out and to remove the biofilm. You can purchase a pipe purge at your local pool dealer.

I hope that helps! Please feel free to follow up with any other questions you may have or give us a call at 800-222-0169.

It works fine but you didn’t tell me how to order 4 months supply online direct from the factory

It is awesome, just load and go, monitor once a week and feel free to not check everyday, It is simple for people on the go, just keep a record for the first couple months as to when to change, I usually get 3 1/2 months out of my Mineral cartridge and 3 weeks out of my chlorine cartridge, the inline system is the way to go, no floating dispensers and is clean and efficient, keeps Tub in tip top condition. Works really nice in my hot tub. Much better than the bromine cartridge for softer water. Just make sure you use the @ease test strips or you will get wrong chlorine readings with other strips.

10 months into owning my 450 gallon tub with the in-line @ease system, a family of 4 with two teens – we use the tub at least 4 times per week and often with 4 to 6 people at a time. PRO: While I only get 3, maybe 4 weeks of use per cartridge, I LOVE the lack of a strong chlorine smell. Also, my skin does not get dried out (though I am not sure if this is due to less chlorine or the mineral cartridge). CON: I wish they would provide the chlorine to refill the cartridges. To ensure I don’t run the cartridge dry, I pull them out every three weeks and after the cartridge dries I pop off the top and consolidate the contents into one cartridge – when that one get’s filled, it is put into rotation and works just fine. So why not try saving the planet and provide refills?!! COMMENT; Yes, I have a big tub and use it often, and have to shock it once per week. But, apparently this is not rare and if you use your tub frequently, you WILL have to shock it (I use a table spoon of chlorine once per week). The claim of not having to ever shock your tub, I feel, is not accurate. SUMMARY: I would buy again but I think we all need to put pressure on these guys to sell bulk refills – 20 of these of plastic containers per year is a lot to put in our landfill.

      Hi Larry,

I’m happy to hear that you have enjoyed your @ease System. I have noted your thoughts and will pass them along to our engineering team. Regarding your shock concern, with SmartChlor you only need to shock once a month, or when you replace the SmartChlor Cartridge. I recommend a non-chlorine shock. Ensure you are using @ease Test Strips as these are calibrated to measure the lower levels of chlorine needed with @ease. Normal test strips will give you a low residual chlorine reading.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions and thank you for your thoughts.

I use the in-line chlorine system in my marquis spa. It’s great. I get 4-5 weeks out of my chlorine cartridge, set at 3. I set the mineral at 6 and it gets 4 months, no.ossues. My water stays bright and clear. For those having issues, one thing I will tell you, if you start up.your spa and don’t follow directions, you won’t get proper results. It needs to be hot to add certain chemicals or they won’t be effective. Also, if you allow ppl into your spa with dirty clothes (and that includes not getting the laundry soap totally out of their clothes first or using fabric softener), no matter what you do, your water won’t last the time stated on any system out there. Deodorants, excessive hair products, makeup, lotions… they all cloud up a spa quickly when added together in 600 gallons. We just water wash our suits between uses in the spa and have specific ones that we use only in the spa. Any suits used at the gym pool or at the beach never go in our spa. Using that little start up packet is also crucial. I forgot it one time and just started up the spa after a water change and I went through chemicals quicker. I had to shock once a week or more as well. Whatever is in it makes a difference. Just follow directions and watch what you drag into your water and it works beautifully. Easiest spa I’ve ever had.
