1. A FROG guide explaining how to prepare a pool and balance water chemistry. Before balancing, test fill water for Total Hardness and metals. The four-step weekly balancing guide recommends adjusting Total Alkalinity to 80–120 ppm first, then pH to 7.2–7.8 and finally Total Hardness to 200–400 ppm. Additional tips include adding adjustment chemicals in small increments, waiting 12 hours between adjustments and using a chlorine shock if balancing takes longer than two days.
